G2P Earth Foundation
Raising awareness, training, and equipping young Africans around the use of remote sensing as a lever for environmental preservation, land monitoring, and climate risk management.
Discover our areas of interventionA foundation dedicated to remote sensing in service of the African environment
G2P Earth Foundation is a non-profit initiative within the G2P Africa ecosystem. It aims to democratize access to knowledge, tools, and uses of remote sensing to enhance environmental monitoring, territorial resilience, and the capacity of young Africans to contribute to the professions of tomorrow.
Our main areas of intervention
The foundation operates around three complementary priorities: observe, prevent, and transmit.
Mining impact monitoring
Development of satellite monitoring tools to document the impacts of mining activities in Africa: deforestation, land artificialization, potential pollution, footprint evolution, and pressure on ecosystems.
Natural disaster management
Promoting the use of satellite imagery for anticipating, mapping, and monitoring natural disasters: floods, droughts, wildfires, coastal erosion, and land degradation.
Free training for women & youth
Organizing free introductory sessions on remote sensing, satellite data, and geospatial tools to inspire scientific and technical vocations. "Women in science" focus.
Our approach
G2P Earth Foundation combines awareness-raising, applied research, training, and the production of simple digital tools to make remote sensing more accessible to institutions, communities, students, and actors committed to environmental protection.
- Production of educational content on remote sensing and Earth observation.
- Development of demonstrators for environmental monitoring.
- Organizing free training sessions and webinars for young Africans.
- Supporting the understanding of environmental impacts related to extractive activities.
- Promoting the use of satellite data in African public policies.
Led by Boubacar SOW
The foundation is led by Boubacar SOW, a PhD candidate in remote sensing applied to agriculture in Africa. His commitment focuses on the valorization of satellite data, artificial intelligence, and digital tools to better understand the environmental dynamics of the continent.
Through G2P Earth Foundation, the ambition is to bridge science, technology, and environmental action by empowering young Africans to master Earth observation tools.
An impact-driven foundation
Raise Awareness
Highlight practical uses of remote sensing to protect forests, soils, water, agricultural zones, and vulnerable territories.
Equip
Design accessible tools for visualization, monitoring, and analysis of environmental changes based on satellite data.
Train
Provide free initiation for African women in the basics of remote sensing, GIS, Google Earth Engine, and geospatial analysis ("women in science").
Observe the Earth to better protect Africa
G2P Earth Foundation aims to make remote sensing a citizen, scientific, and strategic tool dedicated to environmental preservation and the resilience of African territories.
