On Saturday, June 28, 2025, during the 3rd edition of AKA TALKS organized by the Akassaa platform, Dr. Saliou Gaye NDOYE, president of G2P consultancy and green finance expert, delivered a powerful speech titled “The Most Expensive Minutes in the History of Planet EARTH”. A vibrant call to action, lucidity, and collective responsibility in the face of the accelerating global climate crisis.
One Breath, 1300 Tons of CO₂
Right from the start, the tone was set. In the time of a single breath, humanity adds 1300 tons of CO₂ to the atmosphere. The figure is striking, causing an uneasy silence. And yet, that was just the beginning.
During the 15 minutes of his speech, 1,140,000 tons of CO₂ were emitted worldwide. Dr. NDOYE then urges everyone to face a harsh truth: the question is no longer if we will pay the climate bill, but who is already paying it, and how to avoid the collective failure of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Thinking Differently: an Unpaid Climate Debt
Central to his argument, Dr. NDOYE deconstructs the dominant logic of the global ecological transition: how can we hope for a just transformation if the climate debt continues to be ignored, especially to the detriment of the least responsible and most vulnerable countries?
With rigor and conviction, he reminds us that countries in the Global South, despite being low emitters, are bearing the full brunt of climate impacts (droughts, floods, coastal erosion) and that just compensation for this climate debt is a survival imperative, not a diplomatic luxury.
A Question of Priorities…
The presentation also highlights the financial contradictions of an international system capable of urgently unlocking trillions for financial or health crises, but consistently slow and hesitant when it comes to ecological challenges. Dr. NDOYE asks: what if the real upcoming failures are not financial, but ethical and civilizational?

G2p: African Expertise Serving a Viable Future
Through his G2P consultancy (Governance – Partnerships – Performance), Dr. NDOYE assists states, financial institutions, local authorities, and businesses in mobilizing green finance, developing climate strategies, or structuring innovative sustainable initiatives such as debt-for-climate swaps, green bonds, and carbon projects.
His appearance at AKA TALKS was also an opportunity to highlight the importance of bold and informed African leadership, capable of speaking on equal terms with major decision-makers from the Global North on the global environmental governance stage.
A Call for the Engagement of Younger Generations
In conclusion, the speech concluded with a strong call to young African talents: to no longer remain on the sidelines of the transitions redefining the world, but to contribute fully, with awareness, competence, and creativity.
Time is running out. But solutions exist. They require collective intelligence, political courage, and a clear-sighted faith in human action.
